I was going through my work when I chanced upon a request for a document by an ex-student. His name sounded vaguely familiar, so I called to confirm the year and document requested. Then, I asked him if he remembered back in October 1993 when, at the steps of Ngee Ann City's forum with the huge TV screen playing Guns N' Roses November Rain, I had asked his friend who was sitting next to him, if they have extra fullscap papers so that I can complete my Trading P&L account and balance the bloody unbalanced Balance Sheet.
What in the bloody blazers was I even thinking??! This mammoth memory cache of mine sometimes leaves even myself in bafflement. We're talking about an incident that was not even 30 minutes, twenty-five years ago. Poor dude probably couldn't even remember what he ate yesterday, let alone an incident which although he witnessed, would've been insignificant for such a friendly guy with so many female acquaintances to remember so many years ago. Good thing I didn't mention my name or that I was in front of him for that matter - all praise to the invisibility of the phone. It was quite by chance that I picked up the form barely an hour after he left the premises. We were meant to cross paths in life and fate would have left it at that. But no, I just have to let it go once again.
